Abstract

Laugier–Hunziker syndrome (LHS) is rare macular hyperpigmentation of skin characterized by brownish-black spots on the oral mucosa, including lips associated with longitudinal melanonychia of nails. The hyperpigmentation occurs spontaneously and may progress slowly or remain stable. Laugier–Hunziker syndrome is considered to be a benign disease with no systemic manifestation or malignant potential, so it is essential to rule out other mucocutaneous pigmentary disorders that do require medical management.
